General Dentistry, Preventative Care and Maintenance
Smileplus - Gold Coast Dentists
A confident and happy smile is achieved through continued preventative care. Our goal is to inform you on the importance of preventing tooth decay and gum disease. Preventing problems can help you to remain confident about the state of your oral health and also reduce the need for future extensive dental care.
Our team of dentists and hygienists will ensure your teeth are clean, free of stains and your gums are healthy. We also offer preventative measures such as fissure sealing your teeth to prevent decay.
We also make a range of mouthguards in team colours, occlusal splints to prevent tooth grinding and devices to cure snoring. Our dentists are experts in children's dental care and can help your children have beautiful teeth and gums for life.
Enhanced Primary Care
The Enhanced Primary Care or Chronic Disease Dental Scheme is coming to an end. All treatment must be completed before 1 December 2012. A new Medicare funded dental scheme will be put in place by 2014.
Medicare Teen Dental Plan
Teenagers aged between 12 and 17 may be eligible for $158 worth of preventative dental treatment through Medicare.
At Smileplus we are committed to prevention and education of patients and on presentation of the Teen Dental Plan voucher each child will receive a check up, scale and clean, fluoride, oral hygiene instruction and preventative x-rays.

- General Dentistry
The dentists at Smileplus believe regular check-ups and professional cleans are important to catch anything before it becomes a larger and more expensive problem. If children's teeth are maintained correctly from an early age, they grow into adults with beautiful teeth without any fillings.
- Smile Makeover
Some people are reluctant to show their smile due to less than perfect teeth. Our dentists can simply and easily close a gap, repair a chip, lengthen or whiten discoloured teeth.
- Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening is one of the easiest and most cost effective cosmetic procedures. Smileplus offer a range of whitening packages to suite your lifestyle and budget.
- Crown and Bridge
Crowns are used to replace weak, damaged or unsightly teeth. Sometimes called a cap, a crown is a tooth-like covering placed over a prepared existing tooth. This treatment is recommended if the patient has insufficient tooth structure on which to place a filling. It is also recommended for strengthening root canal treated teeth and protecting cracked or fractured teeth.
- Full Mouth Rejuvenation
A full mouth rejuvenation is used to correct worn down dentition and heavily restored teeth to the original bite and a great appearance.
Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made laminates that are affixed directly onto the teeth. They are a great option for changing the colour, shape, size and position of teeth in only two visits. They are very natural looking tooth-coloured material that realistically simulates pristine enamel without the tell tale black line of old fashioned crowns.
- Amalgam replacement
Previously teeth were restored with ugly, grey amalgam fillings. When these fillings need replacing due to fracture or decay, we replace them with natural looking white fillings. Some people choose to have all their amalgam fillings replaced and we can work out a plan to carry out this treatment.
- White fillings
Our dentists would rarely if ever use anything other than a white coloured filling. Developments in modern dentistry means more natural looking, strong fillings.
- Inlays and Onlay
These are a stronger way of repairing teeth to avoid food packs and restore bites. They are made of a strong, natural looking tooth coloured material.
- Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment or endodontic treatment, is used to save a tooth that has been badly damaged from decay, disease or injury. Problems with biting, chewing and oral health are associated with losing a tooth. It is important to try to keep teeth to avoid bigger more expensive problems.
- Tooth Extraction
Our experienced team of dentists all perform teeth extractions where necessary. If wisdom teeth are going to be difficult to extract you can chose to have the treatment carried out in hospital as a day patient under general anesthetic.
- Nitrous Oxide Gas
If you are an anxious patient, the Smileplus dentists can adminster nitrous oxide gas to help relieve your anxiety during treatment and make you more relaxed in the dental chair.
- Sleep Dentistry
Some patients have a dental phobia and if nitrous oxide gas is not an option for you, you can opt to have all your treatment done while you are asleep under a general anesthetic in day theatre. You wake up with no memory of the smells or sounds of your dental procedure.
- Sporting Mouthguards
It is very important for young people to protect their teeth from injury while competing on the sporting field. A knock to the teeth when you are young can lead to a lifetime of dental problems. A mouthguard is an inexpensive and necessary way to protect your teeth.
