Children’s Dental Benefit Scheme

You may have received a letter about the newly introduced Medicare Children’s Dental Benefit Scheme. This is a Federal Government initiative for eligible children aged between 2-17 years. This scheme provides up to $1000 worth of dental treatment over a 2 year period to eligible children.

The Children’s Dental Benefit Scheme is means tested. If you can claim Family Tax Benefit A or similar you may qualify. Medicare will have sent you a letter informing you that your children are eligible for treatment. If so just bring in your Medicare card and you will receive free dental treatment for your children.

At Smileplus we are committed to prevention and education of all our patients particularly the young. The kinds of treatment that is covered under the scheme includes the following:

  • Check up
  • Scale and clean
  • Fluoride
  • Oral Hygiene Instruction
  • Preventative Digital radiographs
  • Fillings
  • Fissure Sealants
  • Extractions

Please let us know your children qualify for the scheme when you make an appointment for your child.
